10 years ago, 556 Safety was set up by Rob after running a medium-sized Facilities Management Company in Cardiff. This provided Rob with a broad spectrum of knowledge and abilities and gave him a unique opportunity to understand multiple facets of the Construction Industry Trades.

Rob began his career straight out of school as an apprentice decorator, fast-tracking his training by completing three years’ worth in just one. He then spent eight years serving in the armed forces, an experience he credits with shaping the strong work ethic he brings to the job today. Certainly not the shy and retiring type of Safety Operator that cowers under the pressures of the modern construction site.

Established with Rob’s vision a decade ago, our site operators (what we call inspectors) do more than walk around taking photos and listing problems in reports after they’ve left. Instead, we highlight issues on the spot and work together to sort them out straight away. There’s no sense in leaving a potentially dangerous situation unresolved. Rob stands by his motto: “Don’t Walk by, sort it!”

We offer a referral system so we can pre-select highly qualified companies, who have impeccable safety records, for contracts to very large companies to complete their works. In the same way, we offer a similar completely free service to retained clients where they need an electrical contractor, for example, to complete some ad-hoc works, we will happily put you both in touch.

Working with clients over a long period, you get an understanding of who will work well with whom, and that can create great partnerships.

For those clients who are interested, we can offer a Blackbox service. You present us a problem; we offer you a solution. Some problems you just want to go away and have someone let you know when it is complete, fixed, done. Only a select number of clients can access this service.

As a retained client 556 Safety Ltd will expect unfettered access to your sites. We will arrange the visit if you are working for a Principal Contractor with them, but you are required to have audit records, so that is what we will do.

We often explain to new clients that you’re not just paying for us to protect you, your company and your team, you’re also trusting us to point out anything you might have missed, even if it means giving you a nudge when something’s not quite right.

We will take pictures of things we find, right and wrong and the audit report will be sent to you for you to detail out to your supervisors. We don’t just point it out, we tell you why it’s wrong and how to make it right.
